On August 28, local Villa will host West Ham at Villa Park Stadium in Birmingham. So far, the teams are in second place in the standings, and the Hammers are the only team in the APL that has yet to score.
ASTON VILLA
So far, the Lions cannot boast any stability. In the first round of the new season, Villa lost to Bournemouth (0-2).
In the second round, “Aston Villa” had a difficult victory over “Everton” – 2-1. In the third round, Steven Gerrard’s charges could do nothing against Crystal Palace (1:3). The Lions opened the scoring as early as on the fifth minute, but failed to retain their advantage. Crystal Palace forward Wilfried Zaha evened the score before unleashing his own penalty on 58 minutes to make it 2-1. In the 71st minute, Jean-Philippe Mateta dotted the match – 3-1.
On August 23, Villa played Bolton in the 1/32 finals and won easily, 4-1.
WEST HAM
“The Hammers have not yet pleased their fans not only with victories, but even with goals.
On August 7, West Ham lost to Manchester City (0-2), on August 14 – to Nottingham Forest (0-1). On 21 August, the London club lost 0-2 to Brighton at home. “West Ham took 13 shots on goal and only hit the bar three times.
In three games the Hammers have scored 3.1 expected goals (16th place in the APL), but so far the team has been let down by the realization.
PREDICTIONS
Our team believes that the “lions” will defeat the “Hammers”. Aston Villa’s win can be bet at odds of 2.28, West Ham’s win at 3.15 and a draw at 3.40.
Aston Villa has conceded in each of their three matches this APL season. I don’t believe West Ham, with Antonio in attack, is so hopeless that they can’t score in their fourth consecutive match. Both teams have yet to find their game this season. The encounter will determine who will continue to fall and who will start to climb out of the hole.
